This past year saw casual fashion reign supreme. But looking ahead to (whisper it) the return of our normal lives, there are plenty of relaxed trends that we can take from our WFH wardrobes and into the real world.
It was no wonder, then, that the spring-summer 2021 collections were all about celebrating the joy of getting dressed, while giving a nod to our comfortable WFH uniforms. Think: relaxed silhouettes, soft fabrics, contrasting patterns and bold, bright hues. It’s easy-to-wear fashion with a dopamine hit.
Here are the top casual fashion trends we’ll all be falling for this season…
Feel-good prints
Rainbow stripes, clashing colours, and literally just smiley faces – feel-good fashion is having a serious moment. Bright mood-boosting hues have been slowly taking over high-street retailers and designers alike, with bursts of colour seen on the likes of Versace, Gabriella Hearst and Stella McCartney. In a year when we needed more than ever, the fashion world stepped forward with glee.

Matching cosies
You don’t need us to tell you that two-piece tracksuits have been everywhere this year, with cosy matching sets sported by everyone from fashion editors and influencers to the A-list. And thanks to a huge surge in demand, you have way more choice than just the Juicy Couture tracksuits of yesteryears; there’s a comfy two-piece in every style, shade and print you could wish for. Happy lounging.

Loose denim
The ‘90s called and they want their baggy jeans back, but super-loose, wide-leg denim is here to stay for 2021. Slim-fit silhouettes are out and more relaxed, slouchy fits are in, which we’re totally on board with because it’s basically our jogging bottoms, but in denim. Pair with a crisp white tee and your favourite trainers for the ultimate laidback cool girl ‘fit.

Knitted vests
Chances are, you’ve seen sweater vests on your Insta feed lately. No longer a wardrobe staple reserved solely for your dad, knitted vests have been creeping on the style scene ever since designers like Gucci and Prada sported them in their AW20 collections. Since then, they’ve popped up on almost every fashion site in eye-catching iterations: think exaggerated silhouettes, bright patterns and interesting textures. The bolder, the better.
